Job summary

Cook Children’s Health Care System in Prosper, TX is seeking an experienced Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) to support pediatric surgical teams at Prosper Medical Center. The CST will prepare and maintain sterile environments, anticipate surgeon needs, and ensure instrument readiness.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
• Current NBSTSA CST or NCCT TS-C certification prior to employment.
• Current AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Strong knowledge of sterile technique, surgical instrumentation, and operating room procedures.

Responsibilities

• Prepare operating rooms with appropriate instruments, equipment, and sterile supplies.
• Establish and maintain a sterile field throughout surgical procedures.
• Anticipate the surgeon's needs by selecting and passing instruments and supplies efficiently.
• Perform surgical counts according to established protocols.
• Assist with patient positioning, specimen handling, and room turnover.
• Operate and troubleshoot surgical equipment safely and effectively.
• Support patient safety initiatives while adhering to infection prevention and sterile technique standards.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, nurses, and other members of the surgical team to provide exceptional pediatric patient care.
