Job summary

Phoenix Children's Hospital, Inc. is seeking a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for Pediatric General Surgery and Trauma.

The position provides inpatient support for pre- and post-op general surgery patients and overnight coverage, operating with surgical fellows and residents on pediatric rotations. The ideal candidate will have acute care pediatric experience and be comfortable managing orders, notes, discharges, consults, admissions, and direct communications with families.

Qualifications

• Master’s or Doctorate degree in pediatric acute care, pediatric primary care, family medicine or ARC-PA-approved program.
• Strong interpersonal skills and verbal communication.
• Current BLS certification required by start date.
• Arizona NP/PA certification required by start date or active licensure; NCCPA board certification required.

Responsibilities

• Conducts comprehensive health history, physical assessments and plans for pediatric patients with acute and chronic conditions.
• Orders and prescribes pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions and manages care.
• Forms family-centered plans of care and documents plans; coordinates care with the team.
• Collects data and analyzes patient information as needed.
• Performs advanced procedures related to credentialing as required.
• Utilizes up-to-date, evidence-based practices and adapts plans to family needs.
• Serves as an educational resource to patient/family/nursing staff and provider team; acts as preceptor.
• Maintains competencies and pursues professional development for self and team.
