Job summary

WakeMed Pediatric Surgery is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible Pediatric Surgeon to join a growing, multi-specialty group serving infants, children, and adolescents across Wake County and surrounding communities.

The selected physician will provide comprehensive surgical care, collaborating with pediatric specialists, advanced practice providers, nursing teams, and community physicians, while contributing to a family-centered program with extensive teaching opportunities.

Qualifications

• BE/BC required in pediatric surgery.
• Licensed medical physician and board certification in area of practice required.
• Fellowship/internship/residency in related area required.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate, diagnose, and treat pediatric surgical conditions in newborns, infants, children, and adolescents.
• Perform a broad spectrum of pediatric surgical procedures, including elective, urgent, and emergency surgeries.
• Provide pre-operative, operative, and post-operative patient management.
• Participate in hospital call coverage and inpatient consultations.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary pediatric specialists and care teams.
• Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation in the electronic medical record.
• Participate in quality improvement, patient safety, and clinical excellence initiatives.
• Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, and postoperative care.
• Support teaching opportunities for medical students, residents, and advanced practice providers, as applicable.
