Job summary

Dayton Children's in the Sleep Lab is seeking a Polysomnographic Trainee to develop competency in sleep testing procedures under the Medical Director and lab leadership.

The role includes data intake, instrumenting patients, observing sleep, operating equipment, and supervised therapeutic interventions (oxygen, airway management, PAP setup, blood gas monitoring) with scoring and reporting duties. Hours are 6:30p-7a, 3 twelve-hour days, weekends included.

Qualifications

  • GED or High School diploma
  • Completion of AASM A-Step program and educational modules within 6 months.
  • RPSGT Credential within 18 months of completion of ASTEP program.
  • Enrolled in A-Step program
  • Computer skills, customer service skills, communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Obtains intake data and instruments the patient for testing.
  • Observes and documents the patient's sleep behavior.
  • Operates and troubleshoots the sleep diagnostic equipment.
  • Provides therapeutic intervention under supervision (Oxygen Therapy, Basic Airway Management, PAP setup, Non-Invasive Blood Gas Monitoring, CPR).
  • Assist with polysomnographic scoring and generation of accurate reports.
  • Must be enrolled in the AASM A-Step program and complete educational modules to advance toward RPSGT credentials.
