Job summary

Connecticut Children’s in Hartford, CT is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to join our on-site night shift team for 36 hours per week, with weekend rotation and a sign-on incentive.

The role provides pediatric-specific respiratory care across units, including ventilation management, diagnostics, airway care and patient teaching. Licensure in CT, NBRC certification, and current BLS/PALS/NRP are required or must be obtained within specified timelines.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of Respiratory Care.
• Minimum of an Associate Degree in Respiratory Care.
• Current State of Connecticut license as Respiratory Care Practitioner.
• Credentialed as an NBRC Respiratory Therapist (RRT)—CRT acceptable if RRT within 6 months of hire.
• BLS/CPR required for adult, child & infant.
• PALS required within 6 months of hire.
• NRP required within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Perform testing to assist in diagnosis, monitoring and research of cardiopulmonary function.
• Initiate and manage invasive and non-invasive ventilation according to orders.
• Provide education to patients, families and the public on respiratory care and wellness.
• Collaborate with physicians, RNs and RTs to deliver high-quality care.
• Assist with bronchoscopy, airway management, suctioning and related procedures.
