Job summary

Baylor College of Medicine is seeking a Research Nurse II for a part-time, onsite role in Houston, TX. You will join the Metabolic Research Unit at the Children’s Nutrition Research Center and collaborate with investigators, nurses, and coordinators.

The ideal candidate has pediatrics experience and IV administration skills, with flexibility for occasional Saturday coverage and potential overnight shifts. RN licensure in Texas and BLS are required.

Qualifications

• Associate's/Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is required.
• Two years of relevant RN experience.
• Current RN license in Texas.
• BLS Certification from the American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Perform nursing duties for clinical research protocols independently or with minimal supervision.
• Provide professional nursing assessment of research participants.
• Carry out research procedures (phlebotomy, IV placement, specimen handling).
• Document care in the research record with charting.
• Maintain safe, quality care and positive participant experience.
• Adhere to the Texas Nurse Practice Act.
• Prioritize and organize work to complete assignments on time.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment and prepare for procedures.
• Communicate effectively with health care teams and respond promptly to requests.
• Coordinate research visit appointments, tests, and procedures.
• Develop understanding of research protocols and procedures.
• Instruct participants on test preparations as needed.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
