Job summary

Voorhees Pediatric Facility is seeking a Recreation Assistant to design, plan and deliver activities for pediatric residents. You will join a multidisciplinary team in a therapeutic recreation/child life setting, delivering engaging programs that support physical, cognitive and social development.

Responsibilities include leading activities with children, coordinating group and individual sessions, and promoting holistic well-being within the hospital environment and the local community.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Bachelor’s Degree in a related field preferred.
• Education/training/experience in child development, childcare, play, sensory/developmental stimulation; pediatric illness, disability, social, cultural, religious diversity/backgrounds.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, including communicating with healthcare teams and families.
• Ability to function independently and as part of the TR/CL Department Interdisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design, planning, and implementation of recreation/play activities for pediatric residents.
• Participate in activities with residents including entertainment, interaction, exercise, and expression of creativity.
• Encourage skill development based on the child’s cognitive, motor, and sensory levels while respecting cultural and religious needs.
• Assist in activities in groups or individually in various settings (rooms, playroom, therapy room, outside).
• Facilitate activities within VPF and in the community to promote well-being and developmental milestones.
• Act as an integral member of the TR/CL Department and Interdisciplinary team.
