Job summary

Especially Kidz is a pediatric nursing facility in Shelbyville, Indiana, seeking compassionate Qualified Medication Aides to join our team. The role works under a licensed nurse to perform skilled nursing tasks as outlined in the plan of care.

You will prepare, document, and administer prescribed oral medications, and administer PRN drugs when authorized. Injectable meds must always be given by a licensed nurse, and QA orders are not accepted by a QMA.

Qualifications

• Must be certified as Qualified Medication Aide in Indiana.
• Must complete a State approved training program in medication administration.
• Must possess a current health certificate/examination as required by State agencies.
• Must perform only those duties that were taught in the approved training program.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and administer safely prescribed oral medications to residents and document.
• Administer oral PRN drugs when authorized by a licensed nurse.
• Injectable medications must always be given by a licensed nurse.
• Telephone or verbal orders may never be accepted by a QMA.
• Take and record appropriate vital signs before administering certain medications.
