Job summary

The Duke Hospital Pediatric Pulmonary Hypertension Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is a key member of the Pulmonary Hypertension team, delivering evaluation, treatment, and follow‑up for children and adolescents. The APP collaborates with supervising pediatric cardiologists and hospital teams in inpatient and outpatient settings at Duke University Health System.

Qualifications

• NP must complete an accredited graduate level Pediatric‑Acute Care NP program.
• PA must graduate from ARC‑PA accredited PA program.
• Licensure in North Carolina as NP or PA.
• NP: National PNP‑AC certification; PA: NCCPA certification.
• Experience in pediatrics as an APP, 3+ years preferred.
• Life support: BLS and PALS.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and treat children and adults with pulmonary hypertension with supervising physician.
• Obtain health histories, perform exams and document findings.
• Order labs and diagnostic procedures; obtain prior authorizations for medications.
• Coordinate with dermatology? (Note: keep focused on pulmonary care)
• Educate patients and families regarding disease and treatment plans.
• Participate in multidisciplinary Pulmonary Hypertension clinic and team meetings.
