Texas Children's Hospital is seeking a Psychiatric Technician to safeguard patients at risk of harm, under RN supervision. The role focuses on safe observation, collaboration with the Behavioral Health Support Team, and family-centered care within a pediatric setting.

Evening shifts 3p-11p are available, with full and part-time options. Candidates should have a HS diploma or GED, and relevant behavioral health experience; BLS is required and a psychology-related degree is preferred.

Qualifications

• 1 year experience with Behavioral Health in inpatient or outpatient settings.
• HS Diploma or GED required.
• BLS Certification (American Heart Association) required.
• Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Sociology, or related field preferred.
• Pediatric Behavioral Health experience preferred.
• Crisis Prevention certification preferred.

Responsabilités

• Provide direct continual observation of patients requiring special precautions to ensure a safe environment during their hospital stay.
• Remain with the assigned patient at all times during the shift.
• Perform direct observation of the patient and monitor for at-risk behavior.
• Monitor for sharps and contraband that can cause harm to patient and others.
• Assist the nurse in providing an environment conducive to safety for patients, visitors, and staff.
• Assist in implementation of individualized patient care plan.
• Promote healthy coping through verbal support and behavioral plans by the health care team.
• Assist the patient care team through observation and communication about patients’ status.
• Maintain accountability for personal development.
• Demonstrate commitment to teamwork, flexibility, professional interpersonal communication, and customer service.
