Job summary

Heartland Community Health Center – Lawrence, KS is seeking a Pediatric Psychiatric Registered Nurse (RN) to join our interdisciplinary pediatric and behavioral health care team. The RN will perform nursing assessments, provide care coordination, monitor medications, educate patients and families, triage, and follow up in collaboration with psychiatrists and pediatric providers.

This non-exempt, hourly position supports coordinated, patient-centered care with flexibility to meet clinic needs.

Qualifications

• Nursing responsibilities including assessment and care coordination.
• Medication monitoring and patient/family education.
• Ability to triage and follow up within clinic protocols.
• Collaborative care with pediatric and behavioral health teams.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with pediatric, psychiatric, and behavioral health teams to deliver patient-centered care.
• Organize nursing duties and allocate resources for timely, safe clinic operations.
• Perform nursing assessments and communicate clinical findings to providers.
• Provide RN-level triage via phone and portal according to protocol.
• Support providers with visits, follow-up care, and coordination of services.
• Administer medications and immunizations per orders and policy.
• Educate patients and families about medications, plans, and follow-ups.
• Coordinate follow-up for medications, labs, referrals, and prior authorizations.
• Escalate urgent concerns per policy and document actions in EHR.
• Maintain confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
• Participate in quality initiatives and staff training.
• Assist with orientation of nursing staff.
