Job summary

HeartlandHealth seeks a Pediatric Psychiatric Registered Nurse (RN) to join a pediatric behavioral health team in Kansas. You will perform nursing assessments, coordinate care, assist with medications, and educate patients and families.

Collaborating with psychiatrists and pediatric providers, you will monitor safety, ensure follow-up care, and uphold HIPAA and quality standards in a busy clinic setting.

Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted RN license to practice in Kansas.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Knowledge of the Kansas Nurse Practice Act and applicable policies.
• Ability to provide developmentally appropriate, patient-centered care to children and adolescents and to communicate effectively with families.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with pediatric, psychiatric, and behavioral health teams to support coordinated, patient-centered care.
• Organize and prioritize nursing responsibilities to support safe, timely patient care and clinic operations.
• Perform nursing assessments and report clinical findings to providers.
• Provide nursing triage within RN scope and approved protocols.
• Support psychiatric providers with visits, follow-up care, medication monitoring, and referrals.
• Administer medications, immunizations, and other treatments per orders and policy.
• Educate patients and families about medications, treatment plans, and follow-up steps.
• Coordinate follow-up for medications, labs, referrals, and prior authorizations.
• Document assessments, communications, and follow-up activities in the health record.
• Respond to calls and messages in a timely, professional, clinical manner.
