Boston Children's Hospital is launching a dedicated pediatric procedural service providing sedation and anesthesia supported care for tests and procedures outside the operating room. The nurse works in procedure rooms, assisting a diverse range of procedures and focusing on children with developmental, behavioral, and medical complexity.

The role involves facilitating procedures, ensuring room readiness, patient safety during sedation, and coordinating handoffs with pre-procedure and PACU teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing required.
• Minimum of 2 years perioperative, procedural, or intensive care nursing experience.
• Pediatric experience required.
• Current Massachusetts RN license (RN)

Responsibilities

• Facilitate and assist procedures in procedure rooms across specialties, supporting proceduralists and anesthesia teams.
• Manage room readiness, patient positioning, equipment, and supplies for safe, efficient case flow.
• Support patient safety during procedural sedation and anesthesia, including monitoring assistance and time-outs.
• Coordinate case progression and handoffs with pre-procedure and PACU teams.
• Collaborate with Child Life Specialists to prepare environment and the child, especially for patients with autism or high procedural anxiety.
• Support urgent add-ons and escalation pathways in a family-centered procedural environment.
