Job summary

UCSF Health is seeking a Pediatric Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to independently evaluate and prepare children for anesthesia in the PREPARE clinic. You will collaborate with anesthesiology, surgery, pediatrics and perioperative teams to optimize preoperative care and reduce perioperative risk.

Ideal candidates hold a California RN license with NP certification (DNP or MSN preferred) and have pediatric ambulatory and perioperative experience, plus BLS and CA DEA registration.

Qualifications

• California RN license and NP certification required.
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a licensed Pediatric Nurse Practitioner.
• Minimum of three (3) years of recent experience in pediatric ambulatory, perioperative care, including preoperative and/or postoperative patient management.

Responsibilities

• Independently perform pre-anesthesia evaluations via telephone, telehealth, inpatient or in-person visits.
• Obtain and assess medical, surgical, anesthesia, medication, allergy, and family history; conduct a thorough review of systems.
• Evaluate perioperative risk factors and identify patients needing additional evaluation or consultation by anesthesia or other specialties to ensure safe perioperative care.
• Collaborate with anesthesiologists, surgeons, pediatric specialists, nursing staff, and perioperative teams to optimize patient safety.
