Job summary

The City of New York's Administration for Children’s Services is seeking a Staff Nurse to support the Pre-Placement Medical Services Unit within the Children’s Center. You will perform health assessments for children entering foster care and provide primary care under supervision. Evening and night shifts are required.

A valid NYS RN license is necessary; a Bachelor of Science in Nursing is preferred. Experience with Word, Excel, and an EHR system is desirable.

Qualifications

A valid New York State Registered Nurse license.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
Experience with Word, Excel, Access and EHR preferred.

Responsibilities

Arrange follow up appointments and referrals for foster children.
Verify medications and equipment are ready at placement.
Assess physical and mental health care needs of foster children entering care.
Provide comprehensive physical assessments and identify emergency or ongoing needs.
Conduct consultations on safe medication administration and training for childcare staff.
Collaborate with other disciplines involved in child care.
Transfer and share information when children move to a placement or refer to another provider.
Develop and monitor a comprehensive patient care program as part of the care team.
Participate in departmental and inter-disciplinary meetings about nursing policies.
Implement treatment protocols and orders from the Pre-Placement Medical Director.
Educate patients and train new foster parents on medical conditions.
Train ACS and contracted staff on health protocols and procedures.
