Job Summary

Under supervision, the technologist performs sleep recordings and tests, monitors physiologic phenomena, and may work independently after initial training. Responsibilities include data collection, equipment calibration, patient assessment, and ensuring quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Review physician orders and patient records, assess sleep/wake complaints.
• Interview patients, educate on equipment use, and address concerns.
• Set up and calibrate monitoring equipment, apply electrodes, and administer supplemental oxygen as ordered.
• Monitor and interpret sleep data, recognize abnormalities, and report findings.
• Respond to physiological events, adjust patient environment, and evaluate EEG data.
• Post-study procedures, including electrode removal, disinfection, and reporting.
• Participate in professional development activities and departmental meetings.

Qualifications

• Skills: High-quality study acquisition, pediatric protocols, troubleshooting, mask fitting, and managing complex pediatric cases.
• Licenses/Certifications: RPSGT preferred; must obtain BRPT registration within one year; BCLS required.
• Education: High School Diploma required; additional certification in sleep, EEG, or respiratory therapy preferred.
• Experience: 1-2 years in polysomnography, pediatric experience preferred.

Working Conditions
