Job summary

Montefiore Medical Center in Bronx, NY seeks a Student Playroom Assistant within the Child Life team to create a warm, developmentally appropriate environment for pediatric patients and families. You will facilitate play, accompany bedside activities, and support staff to reduce anxiety and promote growth.

Ideal candidates are enrolled students with experience working with children, and able to commit 18 hours per week for one year in day shifts (9 AM-4 PM).

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in undergraduate, post-baccalaureate, or graduate coursework.
• Prior volunteer or work experience with infants, children, and/or adolescents is required.
• Commitment to dedicate at least 18 hours per week for one year.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate developmentally appropriate play activities in pediatric playrooms.
• Conduct bedside visits to provide recreational play for patients unable to visit the playrooms.
• Maintain infection control standards by sanitizing toys and surfaces.
