Job summary

Montefiore Medical Center is seeking a Student Playroom Assistant to support pediatric patients and families within the Child Life team. The role focuses on organizing play activities, bedside engagement, and maintaining a safe, developmentally appropriate environment.

The position requires enrollment in undergraduate/graduate studies, with preference for majors in Child Life, Nursing, Pre-Med, Psychology, or Early Childhood Education, and a commitment of 18 hours per week for one year.

Qualifications

• Education track includes Child Life, Nursing, Pre-Med, Psychology or Early Childhood Education.
• Commitment to 18 hours per week for one year.
• Experience with infants, children, and/or adolescents preferred.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate safe, developmentally appropriate group activities in pediatric playrooms.
• Provide bedside recreational play activities for patients unable to visit playrooms.
• Maintain infection control standards by sanitizing toys and surfaces.
• Share patient observations with staff and assist Child Life Specialists.
• Coordinate with external visitors and holiday/educational events as needed.
• Complete daily administrative tasks and track equipment and supplies.
