Job summary

UNM Hospital seeks a Pediatric Physical Therapist to provide medically prescribed physical therapy across neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, and adult patient groups as part of the CTH Physical Therapy team. The role involves evaluating, planning, and delivering therapy with a focus on safety and policy adherence.

Responsibilities include evaluating functional ability, collaborating with medical staff, educating patients and caregivers, mentoring students, and maintaining meticulous documentation

Qualifications

• Essential: Bachelor’s Degree
• Essential: Related Discipline
• Essential: Bilingual in English and at least one Native language (Spanish or Indigenous languages) with 1 year of related experience

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patient to determine treatment goals; outline delivery of therapy and plan therapy program using exercise, massage, heat, sound, water, light, and electricity
• Apply evaluation methodology for functional ability
• Consult with medical staff on patient care
• Educate patient in use of equipment, posture control, and procedures
• Instruct caregivers on prescribed therapy regimen and home safety
• Adapt therapy techniques to meet patient needs
• Supervise and instruct PT students and volunteers as delegated; mentor staff
• Document all patient care activities; process patient billing
• Assess home environment for modifications to maximize daily living activities
• Order supplies and equipment
• Complete insurance documentation
• Establish and maintain rapport with patients, visitors, physicians and hospital staff
• Promote professional growth through continued education and workshops
