Job summary

County of Monterey, CA is seeking a full-time Physical Therapist to serve Physically Handicapped Children within the CCS Medical Therapy Program. You will perform evaluation, planning and direct PT treatment, while documenting progress and coordinating with a multidisciplinary team including physicians, nurses, and school staff.

The role requires a valid PT license in California, ~2 years of pediatric experience preferred, and bilingual English/Spanish as a desirable qualification.

Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of modern physical therapy techniques for physically handicapped children.
• Understanding of anatomy, physiology, neuromuscular functions and kinesiology; basic pathology in cerebral palsy cases.
• Proper use and care of durable medical equipment, orthotics & prosthetics.

Responsibilities

• Provide PT treatments and home exercise instruction to children and caregivers.
• Record and report patient progress and treatment results.
• Evaluate children birth to 21 with orthopedic or neuromuscular conditions and perform relevant tests.
• Plan therapy programs with goals and collaborate with physicians, teachers and families to maximize benefits.
• Assess need for equipment and instruct families on use and care of equipment.
