Job summary

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree is required.
• Board certification or eligibility in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation is required.
• State of Michigan Medical License is required.
• Current BLS Certification is required.
• Current ACLS certification, and PALS certification if working with pediatric populations, are required.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care within the scope of physiatry practice according to licensure and regulations.
• Provide professional medical services in physiatry to inpatient and outpatient Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital patients; perform invasive procedures as credentialed.
• Maintain medical records timely and cooperate with billing, peer review, and compliance programs.
• Provide oversight and education for students, residents, and mid-level providers.
• Maintain staff privileges at Mary Free Bed and other hospitals; complete required medical record tasks and committee work.
• Identify opportunities for care improvement and participate in Mary Free Bed quality initiatives.
• Monitor developments in the specialty and promote new programs that meet criteria.
• Provide medical leadership to the treatment team and promote teamwork.
• Engage in professional education sessions, discharge planning conferences, ICU/ Rehab teams, and community outreach.
