Overview
Pediatric Physiatrist position at Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital. Reports to the Chief Medical Officer.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Provide patient care, treatment, and services within the scope of their license, certification, or registration and as required by federal and state laws and regulations.
- Provide professional medical services in the specialty of physiatry to Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital patients in the following areas: inpatients, outpatients, clinics, and timely consultations at referring hospitals and facilities; perform invasive procedures within the normal scope of physiatry practice when adequate credentials and procedural guidelines including staff education are established.
- Maintain medical records in a timely fashion and cooperate with billing, peer review, and compliance programs.
- Provide oversight and education for students, residents, and mid-level providers.
- Maintain staff privileges at Mary Free Bed and mutually agreed-upon other hospitals, including duties required to maintain those privileges (e.g., medical record completion, committee service, compliance, citizenship).
- Identify opportunities for improvement of care and actively participate in Mary Free Bed quality initiatives.
- Monitor developments in the specialty field and promote new programs that meet program criteria.
- Provide medical leadership to the treatment team treating assigned patients and promote harmonious and effective team functioning.
- Model professional behavior.
- Enhance knowledge and understanding of Mary Free Bed’s capabilities among medical professionals and patient populations through regular participation in professional education sessions, discharge planning conferences at regional hospitals, participation in ICU and Rehab teams, and community outreach and programming opportunities.
- Promote the financial viability of Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital.
- Promote development and dissemination of new knowledge, preferably in peer‑reviewed journals.
Qualifications
- M.D. or D.O. degree.
- Board certified or board-eligible in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation.
- State of Michigan Medical License.
- Current BLS Certification.
- Current ACLS certification, and PALS certification if working with pediatric populations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in developing new treatment programs and paradigms.
- Experience in the medical rehabilitation of seriously ill patients.
- Published research in peer-reviewed journals.
