Job summary

Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta is seeking a Medical Assistant to support all department disciplines and provide direct and indirect patient care under physician supervision. You will collect vitals, assist clinical staff, and help ensure a safe environment and accurate documentation.

Required education includes a high school diploma or equivalent and completion of an accredited medical assistant program; certifications (CMA/RMA/CCMA) are preferred.

Qualifications

• Initial competencies defined by department must be completed within 3 months of employment.
• Basic Windows Skill Assessment at 80% or higher within 30 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Assists in basic delivery of patient care as assigned by licensed professionals, using age-appropriate standards and infection control.
• Completes assigned tasks/orders from providers.
• Demonstrates competency during intake process, including accurate vital signs.
• May demonstrate competency in phlebotomy, simple medication or vaccine administration, spirometry, and radiographs under physician direction.
• Maintains organization and communication in prioritizing, delivering, and documenting patient care.
• Performs multiple tasks in fast-paced environments while upholding customer service standards.
• Greet patients and families, relay delays, and assist with other services as needed.
• Performs administrative duties to promote efficient operations, including opening/closing procedures, phones, waiting room materials, and wait-time boards.
