Qualifications

• No minimum experience required
• 1 year experience in pediatrics, including obtaining vitals, assisting clinical staff with patient care, phlebotomy, and specimen collection procedures
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) from recognized bodies and related certifications referenced in the posting
• Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of employment

Responsibilities

• Assists in basic delivery of patient care as assigned by licensed professional practitioners, utilizing knowledge of growth and development, infection control and safety procedures
• Completes assigned tasks/orders from providers
• Demonstrates competency during intake process, including accurate vital signs
• May demonstrate competency in phlebotomy, simple medication or vaccine administration, spirometry testing, and performing radiographs under a physician
• Utilizes organization and communication skills to prioritize and document patient care
• Performs administrative duties to promote efficient operations (opening/closing procedures, answering phones, maintaining waiting area materials, restocking beverages, updating wait-time boards)
• Understands and complies with infection control and safety procedures
• Demonstrates competencies across age groups (neonate to adult)
