The candidate should have a high school diploma or equivalent, completion of a recognized surgical technologist program (or 5 years of equivalent experience), and BLS within 30 days of employment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and graduation from recognized surgical technologist program or 5 years of equivalent experience
• Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of employment

Responsibilities

• Assists in ongoing healthcare delivery to patients and parents, incorporating age-related and developmental needs.
• Provides technical skills assisting surgeon or staff and operating surgical equipment safely.
• Maintains knowledge of current equipment and supplies.
• Utilizes effective communication with patients and families.
• Assists in collaborative practice with the healthcare team.
• Demonstrates cost effectiveness and efficiency with time management and supplies.
• Participates in orientation of students, staff, and health professionals.
• Manages own professional development by rotating through other specialties to maintain competence.
• Demonstrates competencies across age groups from neonate to adult.
• Supports Joint Commission readiness.
