Job summary

Carle Health is seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist to evaluate and treat patients of all ages. The OT will act as a clinical resource for staff and students and will model professional practice on a day-to-day basis.

The role requires BLS certification within 30 days of hire and licensure as an Occupational Therapist in Illinois, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Therapy. The OT will design individualized care plans and educate patients and families throughout the treatment

Qualifications

• BLS certification within 30 days (AHA).
• Licensed Occupational Therapist (OT) - IDFPR (license evidence).

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates ability to perform patient transfers with assistance from bed, chair or floor.
• Maintains safe body mechanics to protect patients and staff.
• Designs an individualized plan of care with goals, treatment, outcomes, and discharge planning.
• Adjusts care based on patient response and current evidence.
• Educates patients, families, caregivers, students, and other health professionals.
• Evaluates clinical findings to determine OT-related diagnoses and treatment outcomes.
• Performs examinations using reliable methods aligned with chief complaints and history.
• Screens patients to determine need for therapy services; uses support personnel per standards.
• Monitors and provides feedback on care delivered by support personnel.
• Documents evaluations and plans of care per policy, noting goals and responses to treatment.
• Completes annual education for compliance where applicable (e.g., DNV Hip & Knee Program).
• Evaluates impairments related to upper extremity function and develops plans based on goals.
• Performs objective tests for ROM, strength, and daily functional tasks.
• Documents daily therapy activities in EMR and bills accordingly.
• Administers therapeutic modalities (ultrasound, fluidotherapy).
• Communicates progress and recommendations to referring providers.
