Job summary

Nemours-Children in Wilmington, DE is seeking a Nursing Assistant for the 3 West pediatric unit. The role is full-time, 60 hours every two weeks with rotating shifts, including every 3rd holiday and two weekends out of six.

Responsibilities include stocking supplies, maintaining a safe unit, assisting patients with daily activities, and supporting the health care team under RN direction. Requires BLS and high school diploma, with preferred 1 year of patient care experience.

Qualifications

• American Heart Association BLS is required.
• High School Diploma is required.
• Minimum 1 year patient care experience preferred.
• Able to understand laboratory orders, computer information, and some medical terminology.
• Able to obtain specimens from a pediatric patient population.

Responsibilities

• Ensures an adequate stock of equipment and supplies.
• Maintains a clean and safe patient care unit.
• Assists patients with activities of daily life and other patient care as directed.
• Assists staff in examinations or treatment procedures.
• Ensures supplies are accurately charged.
• Contacts pharmacy, dietary, and other departments as designated by RN.
• Collects patient specimens with safety and accuracy.
• Uses Hospital Information Systems for patient care documentation.
• Relays information from physicians, nurses, and others.
• Transports patients, reports, and supplies between units.
• Transports medications to licensed personnel for patient use.
• Promotes patient safety and privacy.
• Front desk coverage as needed (phones, greetings, mail, orders, records).
• Participates in QA/QI programs and hospital education.
• Attends unit/departmental meetings regularly.
• Demonstrates proficiency in care of patients of all ages.
