Job summary

Nemours in Orlando seeks a Nurse Practitioner to join our Orthopedic Team. The role spans pediatric clinics, inpatient care and the operating room, with a full-time schedule Monday through Friday and no additional call responsibilities.

You will perform patient interviews, health histories, physical assessments, diagnoses and care plans, including pre- and post-operative management, under the Scope of Practice Agreement and Florida NP licensure.

Qualifications

• Accredited NP program completion.
• National NP Certification within 90 days of employment.
• Florida Licensure as a Nurse Practitioner upon hire.
• BLS required upon hire.
• Prior healthcare/patient care experience strongly preferred.
• Orthopedics experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides care to pediatric patients in ambulatory, inpatient, and operative settings.
• Performs interviews, health histories, and physical assessments.
• Diagnoses and plans care with appropriate referrals and teaching.
• Orders and interprets diagnostic tests within NP scope.
• Manages medications and treatment plans.
• Supports perioperative care and post-operative management.

Job description

Nemours in Orlando is seeking a Nurse Practitioner. Come join our Ortho Team! The position will work in our orthopedic clinics, inpatient and operating room. The position is FULL TIME, Monday through Friday, no additional call responsibilities required.

This position provides care for pediatric patients, including interviews patients, obtains and records health histories, completes physical and developmental assessments, diagnoses health problems, manages the health care of those patients for which he/she has been educated, provides health care teaching and counseling, initiates referrals and maintains health records in the inpatient and/or outpatient settings.

Essential Functions:

• Provides care to pediatric patients as guided by education, clinical expertise and Scope of Practice Agreement, including ambulatory, inpatient (acute) care, surgical first assist and pre- and post-operative management
• Elicits comprehensive or focused/interval health history
• Performs complete or interim physical examinations as indicated by the nature of the encounter
• Orders, performs, and/or interprets diagnostic or screening tests, including laboratory, radiological or other tests within the NP scope of practice
• Plans interventions including medications, treatments and procedures, and modifies plans based on evaluation of patient response.
• Initiates, monitors, alters or orders medications related to conditions or illnesses being treated within applicable divisions

Requirements:

• Successful completion of Accredited NP program, National Nurse Practitioner Certification within 90 days of employment
• Florida Licensure as a Nurse Practitioner (temp or permanent) required upon hire.
• BLS required upon hire
• Prior healthcare/patient care experience strongly preferred
• Experience working in Orthopedics preferred
