Qualifications

  • MD or DO; board certified/eligible in Anatomic Pathology and Neuropathology.
  • Fellowship in Neuropathology; pediatric neuropathology interest preferred.
  • Pediatric pathology fellowship desirable but not required.
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure in Arizona.

Responsibilities

  • Attend as clinical attending in pediatric neuropathology and evaluate cases.
  • Interpret pediatric CNS tumors, neuromuscular pathology, epilepsy resections and other complex neuropathologic disorders.
  • Collaborate with neuroscience and neuro-oncology programs across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Engage with pediatric neurologists, neurosurgeons, neuroradiologists, oncologists and researchers.
  • Participate in translational research, biobanking and molecular pathology initiatives.

Job description

Pediatric Neuropathologist

The Division of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Phoenix Children’s is seeking a Pediatric Neuropathologist to join a rapidly expanding division of 18 faculty members within a nationally recognized pediatric healthcare system.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as a clinical attending in pediatric neuropathology, supporting an active and growing pathology service that evaluates over 200 neurological cases and nearly 500 neuropathology specimens annually.
  • Interpret pediatric central nervous system tumors, neuromuscular pathology specimens, epilepsy‑related resections, and other complex neuropathologic disorders.
  • Collaborate with nationally recognized pediatric neurosciences and neuro‑oncology programs, including multidisciplinary teams in pediatric brain tumors, epilepsy surgery, neuromuscular disease, neurogenetics, and developmental neuroscience.
  • Engage with pediatric neurologists, neurosurgeons, neuroradiologists, oncologists, and physician‑scientists in advanced neuro‑oncology, precision medicine, molecular diagnostics, and investigational therapeutics.
  • Participate in translational and clinical research, biobanking and molecular neuropathology initiatives, program development, and leadership within the Division of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine.
Qualifications
  • MD or DO degree, board certified or board eligible in Anatomic Pathology and Neuropathology.
  • Completion of fellowship training in Neuropathology; additional expertise or interest in pediatric neuropathology preferred.
  • Pediatric pathology fellowship training desirable but not required.
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure in the state of Arizona.
  • Strong diagnostic skills, excellent interpersonal communication, and ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary clinical teams, trainees, and researchers.
Scope and Customization

Candidates may focus primarily on pediatric neuropathology or broaden their scope to include adult neuropathology and pediatric surgical pathology, aligning with their interests and experience.

Faculty appointments are encouraged with the University of Arizona College of Medicine‑Phoenix, Mayo Clinic Arizona, and Creighton University School of Medicine. Rank will be commensurate with qualifications.
