Job summary

Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago is seeking a Registered Nurse for IPU-B, a neurodevelopmental inpatient unit serving children/adolescents with developmental differences in crisis. The role focuses on a safe, therapeutic milieu tailored to developmental and behavioral needs.

The nurse will conduct assessments, develop individualized care plans, educate families, and work with a multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality, coordinated care in a dedicated pediatric setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in nursing required; ADN considered with commitment to BSN within 1 year.
• Current RN license in Illinois in good standing.
• Basic Life Support certification (AHA).
• Ability to effectively communicate with patients, families, physicians and hospital staff.

Responsibilities

• Performs nursing assessments utilizing a variety of assessment methods and tools.
• Develops or individualizes plans of care and sets goals with family input.
• Creates/updates teaching plans to meet patient and family learning needs.
• Provides nursing care per protocols and intervenes in emergent situations as needed.
• Communicates with family and multidisciplinary team to identify health care needs and status changes.
