Job description

The Children s Hospital at Montefiore (CHAM) and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, with the Department of Pediatrics, is currently recruiting a Chief of the Division of Pediatric Nephrology. The Division Chief will be responsible for further development of a comprehensive Pediatric Nephrology program and advancing the field through patient care, practice innovation, research, and education. This position requires a dynamic, passionate, and capable physician-leader with deep research experience and a record of success spanning collaborative clinical leadership, administrative management, program development, individual scholarship, educational excellence, successful faculty recruitment, and community engagement.

The Division of Pediatric Nephrology at CHAM has a rich history of leadership and pioneering clinical, research, educational, and social efforts. One of the first pediatric kidney transplants in history was performed by faculty of the Division, and CHAM boasts the first dedicated pediatric dialysis facility in New York State and the first children s satellite dialysis unit. The Division s pediatric dialysis center is an active member of the SCOPE collaborative, a multicenter performance improvement workgroup focused on reducing the rates of exit-site infections and peritonitis for children receiving chronic peritoneal dialysis.

The Division participates in numerous multidisciplinary family-centered outpatient services providing evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of kidney disorders of infants, children, and adolescents, conducting 3,200 outpatient and 1,250 inpatient visits annually. The Division has six faculty and a dedicated team of professionals including pediatric nurses, urologists, social workers, nutritionists, transplant surgeons, psychiatrists, child life specialists, and even a teacher for long-term patients.

In collaboration with the leadership of Montefiore Health System and Albert Einstein College of Medicine, this candidate will provide visionary and innovative leadership to guide the Division into its next phase of growth and development, including expanding services to the growing hospital system and practice network.

With the Chair of Pediatrics, this candidate will define and lead the Division s research strategy. Support principal investigators and other faculty within the Division in efforts to secure NIH and other grant funding to support research priorities and ensure a deliberate investment into research activities and priorities.

Provide the vision and leadership to achieve superior clinical programs within Pediatric Emergency Medicine and related disciplines. Work with the leadership of the department and Montefiore Health System to build areas of acknowledged clinical excellence and further integrate related operations across the System.
