Job summary

Shriners Children’s is seeking a Medical Assistant for our Philadelphia outpatient clinic. The MA will support physicians and nurses with examinations, procedures, and treatments, while handling specimen collection, wound care, and patient education.

The role includes room preparation, patient flow management, vital signs, and accurate EHR documentation. Certification, BLS, and completion of an accredited MA program are required.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• Current Medical Assistant certification (CMA, RMA, CCMA, or NCMA).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians and nurses with patient examinations, procedures, and treatments.
• Administer medications as directed by a physician, adhering to five rights of medication administration.
• Schedule appointments, manage patient flow, and aid referral coordination.
• Prepare examination rooms and ensure cleanliness and stocked supplies.
• Greet and prepare patients, take vital signs, and document medical history.
• Document in electronic health records (EHR).
