Job summary

The Medical Assistant at Shriner’s Children’s is essential in supporting clinicians in outpatient clinics, performing clinical and clerical tasks, drawing blood, taking vitals, and assisting with casts. You will ensure infection control, document history, and coordinate with radiology and front desk using Epic and other EMR tools.

Ideal candidates have BLS, experience in pediatric/ambulatory care, and are proficient in Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
• Spanish proficiency preferred.
• Familiarity with HIPAA, infection control, and patient safety protocols.
• Experience with EMR systems (Epic) and Microsoft Office is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Escort patients from waiting areas to exam rooms and verify DOB.
• Assist with radiology/POPs rooming and daily rooming for clinics.
• Obtain vitals (height, weight, temp, pulse, BP) and collect basic medical history.
• Draw blood and assist with casts; monitor patient condition.
• Follow infection prevention protocols and Telehealth intake tasks.
• Update rooming status in Epic and coordinate with front desk, radiology, POPs.
• Direct physicians/APPs to patient rooms based on DAR status.
• Prepare exam rooms daily and stock supplies/equipment.
