Job summary

Family Health Centers of Southwest Florida is seeking a Medical Assistant to provide front office clerical support and assist clinicians with patient care in an ambulatory setting.

The role includes triage, vital signs, documentation, specimen collection, and support for minor procedures. Must have Medical Assistant training/certification and at least 2 years of ambulatory care experience. Bilingual Spanish optional.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED or equivalent training and experience.
• Completion of Medical Assistant training program with certification preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years experience as a Medical Assistant in ambulatory care.

Responsibilities

• Provide clerical and clinical assistance as required.
• Prepare patient from triaging through vital signs/medical history.
• Assist provider and complete procedures as directed.
• Establish specialty appointments and call patients and pharmacies as requested by providers.
• Chart patient medical records and maintain documentation.
• Handle patient data for statistical purposes.
• Educate patients regarding health care and assess their needs.
• Obtain lab specimens and assist with minor procedures.
• Record medications administered and maintain infection control practices.
• Prepare exam rooms and maintain supplies; use EHR to enter and retrieve patient information.
