Job summary

Texas Children’s Pediatrics in Houston, TX seeks a Certified Medical Assistant to provide direct patient care in a fast-paced setting for ages 0–18 and adults as needed. You will collect data, assist with examinations, and support patient education.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, MA/EMT program completion or certification waiver, BLS, and 1 year of related experience preferred. Various national certifications are acceptable.

Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma or GED is required.
• Completion of a medical assistant or emergency medical technician program, or documentation that certification is not required.
• BLS - Cert-Basic Life Support from American Heart Association.
• 1 year related experience preferred.
• One of the national certifications/registrations (e.g., CCMA, CMA‑AAMA, CMA‑C, NCMA, NRCMA, RMA variants, EMT licenses) is required.

Responsibilities

• Assists in collecting patient/family data including biophysical, psychosocial, developmental, cultural, and environmental information.
• Collects and documents vital signs, BMI, height/weight, and visit reason with accuracy.
• Updates documentation about prior care, medications, allergies, and current information per protocol.
• Prepares patient for examination and assists provider during treatments and tests.
• Completes and documents treatments and interventions as directed.
• Documents and administers medications and immunizations as directed.
• Supports patient/family self-management and education.
• Handles equipment like thermometers, scales, sphygmomanometer, stethoscope, etc.
• Demonstrates pediatric assessment and treatment knowledge.
• Will undergo respiratory fit testing per safety standards.
