Job summary

Lightways Hospice and Serious Illness Care in Illinois is seeking a Licensed Massage Therapist to provide pediatric massage therapy across the northern region. This part-time role requires travel to patient locations and a flexible schedule, including Tuesday mornings and weekday afternoons or early evenings.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED.
• Pediatric experience preferred.
• Bi-lingual preferred.
• Successful completion of an approved massage therapy program.
• Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT) in Illinois.
• Maintains licensure by obtaining required CEUs as defined by IDFPR.
• One year experience as a massage therapist.
• Certification in manual lymph drainage techniques preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess and evaluate pediatric palliative and hospice patients for massage therapy services.
• Design personalized care plans with interdisciplinary team.
• Explain procedures and apply techniques appropriate to patient needs.
• Document all visits and interactions with patients and families per guidelines.
• Maintain caseload, scheduling visits and adjusting frequency as needed.
• Attend interdisciplinary team meetings and collaborate to determine eligibility for massage therapy.
• Provide safe, ethical, and culturally sensitive massage therapy.

The majority of our direct patient care is in the field with Lightways team members providing care in the home, nursing facility or assisted living facility. We also have a 24-bed inpatient unit in Joliet. Non-clinical staff are based out of our Joliet administrative offices.
Massage Therapist:
Provides massage therapy services to Lightways Hospice and Serious Illness Care to our pediatric patients in our northern region. Role requires flexibility and travel to patient locations. Estimated 20 hours a week, needing availability on Tuesday mornings and weekday afternoons or early evenings.
Key Responsibilities:

• Assess and evaluate pediatric palliative and hospice patients for massage therapy services, ascertaining any necessary precautions or contraindications prior to each visit.
• Design personalized care plans in collaboration with interdisciplinary team members that address needs based on assessment findings.
• Explain procedures thoroughly and apply techniques appropriate to patient needs and preferences, modifying approach based on patient response as necessary.
• Document all visits and interactions with patients and families according to established guidelines and policies.
• Maintain caseload, including scheduling visits and adhering to or adjusting visit frequency as needed per patient needs.
• Attend interdisciplinary team meetings (IDT) and collaborate with IDT members to ascertain whether patients qualify for massage therapy.
• Conduct oneself in an authentic, ethical, accountable, and culturally sensitive manner by providing safe, appropriate, and effective massage therapy techniques.
  

Education/Experience:

• High school graduate or GED
• Pediatric Experience Preferred
• Bi-lingual preferred
• Successful completion of an approved massage therapy program.
• Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT) in Illinois.
• Maintains current with licensure by obtaining required Continuing Education Credits (CEUs) as defined by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR).
• One (1) year experience as a massage therapist.
• Certification in manual lymphatic drainage techniques preferred.
