Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Certified Child Life Specialist to support pediatric patients at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital. You will plan developmentally appropriate activities, provide direct patient and family support, and coordinate resources to ease medical experiences for children and their families.

The role requires flexible scheduling with rotating days and weekends, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to promote coping and recovery in a hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Child Life/Child Development or a related field.
• Completion of ACLP approved child life internship.
• Certification as a Child Life Specialist within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement therapeutic activities to support development and coping for children and adolescents.
• Provide direct patient/family interactions and connect families with resources and support groups.
• Prepare children and families for treatments and procedures to minimize medical trauma.
