Job summary

Advocate Lutheran General Hospital is seeking a Full Time Certified Child Life Specialist to join the Child Life Creative Arts Therapies and Education team. The role involves rotating days and weekends with afternoon/evening shifts, and a 36-hour work week to support pediatric patients and their families.

The position emphasizes developmentally appropriate care, medical play, education, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to minimize distress and enhance coping during hospital

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Child Life/Child Development or related field.
Completion of ACLP approved child life internship and experience with all age groups.
Certified Child Life Specialist within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

Plan and implement therapeutic activities to support development and coping for children and families.
Provide direct patient/family interactions and resources; facilitate support groups.
Prepare children and families for procedures and medical experiences to reduce trauma.
