Job summary

Dayton Children's Hospital is seeking a Laboratory Staff Assistant II (LSAII) to perform phlebotomy, specimen management and EKG testing across multiple locations including main and outreach sites. The role supports all Dayton Children’s locations, with some travel to clinical sites as needed.

The position requires a GED/HS diploma, 0–2 years of experience, CPR within 30 days of hire, and pediatric phlebotomy training. Sunquest, LIS, and EPIC proficiency are valued assets.

Qualifications

• GED/High School diploma required.
• 0-2 years experience required.
• Phlebotomy Experience Preferred.
• Pediatric phlebotomy experience, capillary and venipuncture technique preferred.
• Specimen processor, patient registration, scheduling, customer service and clinical lab experience preferred.
• CPR within 30 days of hire required.
• Phlebotomy Certificate (within 1yr of hire-on date).
• Successful completion of pediatric phlebotomy patient training program as provided
• EKG training provided.

Responsibilities

• Perform phlebotomy and specimen collection for neonate to adult patients.
• Manage specimens and ensure accurate labeling and tracking.
• Conduct waived laboratory tests and associated quality controls.
• Perform EKG testing services and related documentation.
• Support QA/QC processes and regulatory compliance across lab sites.
• Assist with patient registration and order transcription in LIS/EPIC systems.
