Job summary

Cook Children's Health Care System is seeking an Inpatient Staff Speech Pathologist to provide comprehensive speech-language pathology services in a pediatric inpatient setting. You will evaluate and treat feeding/swallowing disorders and a range of communication disorders, while coordinating care with radiology for swallow studies.

The role emphasizes education for families and collaboration with medical teams, clinics, and community services, with adherence to department and system policies.

Qualifications

• Masters degree in speech/language pathology.
• At least 2 years of pediatric feeding/swallowing experience in an acute pediatric hospital is preferred.
• BLS certification within 30 days of employment required.
• State license or eligible for state licensure.
• CCC-SLP or eligible for application upon completion of Clinical Fellowship Year and must be obtained within 12 months of hire to maintain employment at Cook.

Responsibilities

• Provide inpatient speech-language pathology services focused on functional skills to enhance development and restore function.
• Assess and treat pediatric feeding/swallowing disorders, articulation, voice, resonance, fluency, and language disorders.
• Perform swallow function studies in collaboration with radiology for inpatients and outpatients.
• Educate patients, caregivers, and collaborating professionals; document per department and system policies.
