Job summary

Children’s National Hospital is seeking an Inpatient Physical Therapist to deliver comprehensive pediatric physical therapy services. You will evaluate infants to teens with complex medical needs, develop individualized plans of care, and coordinate with an interdisciplinary team to support functional goals and safe transitions across care settings.

You will work under CAPTE guidelines, maintain documentation, and engage families in treatment.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a CAPTE-approved physical therapy curriculum.
• Minimum 1 year of inpatient pediatric therapy experience.
• Current or eligible for DC Physical Therapy license.
• CPR certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Perform evaluations and document results with patient/family input.
• Develop and implement treatment plans to improve mobility and independence.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, OTs, SLPs, case managers, and families.
• Set measurable long- and short-term goals based on medical status and discharge plans.
• Provide evidence-based interventions and document progress within policy.
• Instruct and involve patient/family in home exercise programs and equipment use.
• Ensure timely documentation and adherence to regulatory standards.
• Supervise Rehab Technicians and participate in staff education.
