Job summary

Shriners Children's Ohio has an opportunity for a Patient Care Assistant in our Inpatient Unit. The part-time, day shift position is 24 hours/week, 7:00 am - 3:30 pm.

The Patient Care Assistant assists in the delivery of patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, providing direct patient care and performing routine tasks, while maintaining a caring, age-appropriate environment for children and families.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• CNA/STNA Ohio license required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required.

Responsibilities

• The PCA assists in the delivery of patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
• The PCA provides direct patient care and performs routine tasks as assigned.
• Must consistently demonstrate caring and appropriate behavior when interacting with patients and families.
• Assists with wound and skin care, keeps unit and work areas stocked, and provides delegated nursing care activities as appropriate.
• Assists with the planning and provision of structured, age appropriate activities for patients under the guidance or direction of a Child Life Therapist.
• Monitors children's activities and maintains a safe physical and psychosocial environment for children.
