Job summary

UNC Hospitals Youth Behavioral Health (YBH) seeks a Behavioral Health Technician to join in Butner, NC. The role supports a 4YBH pediatric unit, focusing on crisis stabilization for youths with developmental disabilities and various mental health needs.

Qualified candidates are CNA I with at least 1 year in behavioral health, able to collaborate in a multidisciplinary team, and share a commitment to safety and therapeutic care. Full-time, 36 hours/week, day-night rotating shifts.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• CNA I certification required per North Carolina licensing.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients and staff.
• Fluent in verbal and written English.

Responsibilities

• Aids patients in reality orientation and participates in behavior modification plans.
• Interacts with patients one-to-one and in groups to encourage participation.
• Observes and documents patient information and reports changes to RN or physician.
• Provides personal care including bathing, grooming, feeding, and mobility as per care plan.
• Maintains patient safety and restraints as required and follows safety protocols.
• Reinforces teaching and distributes patient education materials as directed.
