Job summary

Connectly Recruiting is seeking a Pediatric Hospitalist in Mattoon, Illinois to join an established inpatient pediatric service line. The position offers a ~5-on / 10-off block schedule and flexible inpatient rotations, with a strong emphasis on high-quality patient care in a supportive community setting.

You will provide comprehensive clinical coverage for pediatric inpatients, round on well newborns, support Level II neonatology care, and collaborate with ED and surgical teams.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited US medical school or international equivalent (MD or DO).
• Completed an ACGME-accredited Pediatrics residency; Board Certified or Board Eligible in General Pediatrics or Pediatric Hospital Medicine.
• Active, unrestricted Illinois medical license (or eligible for state licensure prior to start).
• NRP certification required; DEA registration, CSR, and PALS.
• Comfort with neonatology, Level II nursery protocols, and high-risk deliveries.
• Available for a January 2027 start date.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct inpatient medical management for pediatric admissions and nursery care.
• Attend high-risk deliveries and perform neonatal resuscitations as required.
• Provide pediatric consultations for the ED and surgical services.
• Stabilize acute or critically ill pediatric and neonatal patients and coordinate transfers.
• Perform daily inpatient rounds, manage admissions/discharges, and hand off to outpatient pediatrics.
• Maintain accurate EHR documentation and participate in quality and safety initiatives.
