Ascension is seeking a pediatric hospitalist to join a busy, well-respected practice in Indianapolis. The role includes inpatient care, teaching residents and students, and coordinating with subspecialists to manage complex pediatric cases.

  • Supervise pediatric residents and medical students; contribute to teaching and education.
  • Collaborate with surgical and medical subspecialists for co-management.

How you’ll make an impact in this role
  • Join an established team of 13 pediatric hospitalists
  • Call structure: Subject to change, to be discussed during the interview process
  • Practice setting: Inpatient
  • Access to a comprehensive array of pediatric medical and surgical subspecialties, a dedicated pediatric burn center, and advanced clinical infrastructure for procedural sedation and ground transport medical control
  • Employed position within a nonprofit health system
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Pediatrics
  • Eligible for state medical licensure and DEA registration
  • Provide high-quality inpatient medical care to pediatric patients with diverse and complex diagnoses, managing medical treatments, procedural sedations, and co-management protocols alongside surgical and medical subspecialists.
  • Serve as the medical control authority for the Pediatric Ground Transport team while playing an active, major role in medical education by instructing and supervising pediatric residents and medical students.

  • 197-bed pediatric facility (including 40 private inpatient beds, 8 short-stay beds, 14 PICU beds, 8 Pediatric CVICU beds, 18 Pediatric ED beds, and a 109-bed Level IV NICU)
  • Level I Children’s Surgery Verified and Level I Pediatric Trauma Center
  • Serving a population of approximately 2 million in the greater Indianapolis metropolitan area
  • Integrated referral network spanning Indiana’s largest not-for-profit health system with 22 ministries and over 3,000 physicians

What minimum requirements you’ll need
Licensure / Certification / Registration:
  • Physician MD/DO credentialed from the Indiana Medical Licensing Board obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
  • Advanced Life Support preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
Education:
  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) required.
