The University of North Carolina (UNC) School of Medicine is seeking a clinical faculty member to join our hospitalist practice at the large regional campus in Wilmington, NC.

This multi-specialty academic practice and children's hospital is part of an innovative partnership between UNC and Novant Health to provide specialty care to children from communities throughout southeastern and coastal NC. The Novant Health - New Hanover Regional Medical Center (NH-NHRMC) facility and Betty H. Cameron Women's and Children's Hospital is a full spectrum community-based, children's hospital that serves as the tertiary care children's hospital for southeastern NC.

This position is a clinically focused position in a regional community children's hospital with a strong connection to a large academic group and quaternary children's hospital. Candidates must be BC/BE in General Pediatrics. Experience and BC/BE in Pediatric Hospital Medicine is preferred but not required. This is an open rank, full-time faculty position, on the fixed term track. Salary benchmarks will be at private/community levels. The majority of clinical time is providing inpatient care services to newborns, children and adolescents including admission, subsequent care and discharge with in-house coverage 24/7. Newborn care includes circumcisions and does not include attending deliveries. Services extend to emergency department consultation and surgical co-management. Additional responsibilities include teaching and evaluating Family Medicine residents, UNC medical students and UNC PHM fellows. This person joins seven other full-time hospitalists and five advanced practice practitioners who work with the hospitalist team in Wilmington to provide pediatric and newborn care. Depending on interest and experience, leadership opportunities with the group is available.

At NH-NHRMC, there are approximately 4200 deliveries per year and 2700 admissions with referrals from multiple other centers in our region. All inpatients are admitted to the hospitalist service with consultation provided from subspecialists and surgeons as needed. The pediatric care at NH-NHRMC includes full spectrum specialty care including neonatology, pediatric surgery and anesthesia, pediatric critical care, cardiology, neurology, pulmonology, gastroenterology, endocrinology, and other related specialties. There is an eight-bed pediatric intensive care unit and an eighteen-bed pediatric acute care floor. In total, there are over sixty faculty and advanced practice providers at this regional campus. This campus will have ongoing clinical expansion but also the UNC School of Medicine campus is growing and up to 60 medical students will be located here for 3rd and 4th years. The UNC-NH partnership is also making significant investments in research at the Wilmington campus.

Wilmington, NC, is a charming, coastal city of ~125,000 people located in the southeastern corner of North Carolina between the Cape Fear River and the Atlantic Ocean. It is a popular destination because of its moderate, four-season climate, historic preservation district, annual cultural events, and numerous championship golf courses. The historic downtown offers a 1.75-mile River walk and the nearby Wrightsville, Carolina and Kure Beaches are all within half-hour drives from downtown Wilmington.
