Job Overview

Shriners Children’s is looking for an experienced full-time Pediatric Hand & Upper Extremity Surgeon to join our multidisciplinary team at Shriners Children’s Philadelphia. Successful candidates should be board certified in orthopedic surgery and have completed a fellowship in hand & upper extremity surgery. Ideal candidates should also have substantial experience and interest in caring for pediatric patients, particularly those with brachial plexus, congenital differences, post-traumatic deformities, and sports injuries. Prior hand service line leadership experience is highly preferred.

This position entails a 1.0 FTE commitment with a regular weekday schedule and minimal non-emergent home call expectations.

Responsibilities
  • Fulfills the mission of excellence in patient care in both inpatient and outpatient settings and in the operating room
  • Fulfills the mission of excellence in research by performing scholarly clinical and/or translational research, presenting and publishing research findings, and obtaining intramural and extramural funding for research
  • Fulfills the mission of excellence in education by supervising and teaching medical students, residents, and fellows.
Qualifications
  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school
  • Must have successfully completed an ACGME accredited orthopedic or plastic surgery residency program
  • Must have completed relevant ACGME fellowship training in Hand & Upper Extremity Surgery
  • Must be board certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery (ABOS) and in possession of Subspecialty Certification (SC), if appropriate
  • Must possess or be eligible for Pennsylvania state medical license
  • Minimum 5 years’ post-fellowship experience treating pediatric hand/upper extremity patients required. 10+ years of experience preferred
  • Demonstrated commitment to resident and fellow education, research, and scholarly activities
  • Prior hand and upper extremity service line leadership highly preferred
