Job summary

Novant Health is seeking a full-time Genetic Counselor to support our Pediatric Specialty clinics. Schedule is Monday–Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm, with no weekends. The role involves counseling patients and families about genetic diseases and testing, working with the medical director and clinicians.

You will evaluate histories, order tests, interpret results, and provide compassionate guidance. Growth opportunities and reimbursements are available within a collaborative team.

Qualifications

• Ability to interpret and discuss genetic test procedures, results and diseases with patients in clear terms.
• Promote and maintain collegial working relationships among staff and clinicians.
• Excellent listening, writing, speaking, and reading skills.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with ordering physicians and outpatient providers to coordinate genetic counseling and patient care plans.
• Evaluate patient/family histories and determine appropriate genetic testing; facilitate referrals.
• Interpret test results and clearly communicate risks and recommendations to patients and families.
• Manage a patient caseload of approximately 5–6 per day with ongoing support.
• Support growth and development of the Genetic Counseling program with pediatric specialties and collaborating organizations.
