Brown University Health in Rhode Island is seeking an administrative support specialist to assist families with children with special needs. You will help with scheduling, registration, and coordinating care across clinics, ensuring notes and forms are scanned into the EMR for ongoing coordination by providers.

Under the supervision of the Program Manager/Patient Access Supervisor, performs a variety of duties across the continuum of care to support families with children with special needs. This support includes administrative assistance in system navigation, problem solving, coordination of care, and providing general information to families. BASIC KNOWLEDGE: High school diploma or other equivalent. Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide administrative support for the care coordination of children with special needs
EXPERIENCE: Related experience in providing care to children with special needs. (Personal experience as a parent or family member of a child with special needs preferred). Work requires in addition to the skills normally obtained through High School, familiarity with working in a healthcare setting. Experience should also include familiarity with personal computers.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to outside weather conditions when traveling between sites. Patients’ home environments are variable with regard to heat, noise, air circulation and conditioning, space, cleanliness, accessibility and other environmental factors.
INDEPENDENT ACTION: Performs independently within the department’s policies and practices. Refers specific complex problems to the supervisor when clarification of the departmental policies and procedure is required.

Pay Range: $24.29-$40.07
