Job summary

The Children’s Home Society of North Carolina seeks a HealthySteps Specialist to educate and support parents and caregivers of children 0-3 within a pediatric setting, promoting healthy growth and development. You will coordinate care with physicians and nurses, provide anticipatory guidance, and connect families with community resources while traveling within Guilford County.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Child Development, Psychology, Social Work, or related field.
• Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
• Preference given to licensed and currently registered to practice in North Carolina.

Responsibilities

• Conduct in-office visits with parents and young children, alone or with the physician or pediatric nurse.
• Collaborate with pediatric providers on care coordination, coaching, and education about child development.
• Provide anticipatory guidance to parents on early learning, sleep, feeding, and discipline.
• Coordinate developmental and behavioral screenings and identify factors affecting families.
• Track progress in checkups examining child development and family factors.
• Work with the pediatric team and Family Connects home-visitors as a resource for developmental concerns.
• Participate in reflective supervision and community early childhood meetings.
• Facilitate parent education groups and provide referrals for community resources.
